Built for just one year, the Honda CB1100F was a sleek looking standard that evolved from the 900F. In the process, it had tremendous performance –- in January of ’83, Cycle World said “the Honda CB1100F is a high-performance match for any 1100, in terms of speed and acceleration and handling and braking ability, and has superior cornering clearance as well.”
The 4 cylinder engine produced 108 horsepower, good for a top speed of 139 miles per hour. During testing reviewers even found that, “In the half mile, the CB1100F reached 141 mph, faster than any other stock bike we’ve tested.”
There were two paint scheme options: Pearl Shell White and Candy Pearl Maui Red with black accents, and Pearl Shell White with Candy Pearl Capiolani Blue with red accents.
Manufactured January 1982, this example is VIN: JH2SC1104DM000657; Engine: SC11E2000866. The seller purchased the bike about one year ago from the woman who customized it and says, “I saw this bike come up for sale around the time I was selling another Honda, my RC51. Having lived in Japan the year before, I had seen loads of incredible resto-modded ’70s and ’80s standard bikes, and I knew I wanted one as my next bike. Standard CB1100Fs are cool enough, but this one was next-level. After meeting the seller (who also built the bike), I knew this was too good to pass up. I’ve owned bikes that were faster, or handled better, or were more comfortable… but none that were this cool! It sounds amazing with the old school Yoshimura pipe, and it turns heads everywhere it goes. Over this past summer, I displayed it at the Fuel Cleveland custom motorcycle show. Even now, I’m having second thoughts about selling it, because I’m not sure I’ll ever find another custom bike like this.”
True mileage unknown. During his ownership the seller has covered approximately 550 miles. The seller estimates the bike has approximately 20,850 miles. The current odometer shows 5,338 miles and the previous odometer shows 15,511.
Maintenance:
Per the seller, “Since I’ve owned it, I’ve only rebuilt the forks, put on new tires, and changed out the old spark plugs. It leaks a bit of oil from the valve cover, but no more than any other 40 year old bike. The brakes could use a rebuild as they could definitely work better. I rebuilt the forks, but one fork leg has two very small pits on it, so it will leak oil slowly over time.”
Modifications:
Pertaining to the unique customization of this bike the seller states, “1996 Suzuki GSX-R1100 forks, triples, and brake calipers, Honda F3 front rim with custom-made spacers, Honda F2 rear rim, stock rear swing arm with a modified rear brake carrier, Gazi fully adjustable rear shocks, Dyna 2000 ignition system, 32mm Keihin CR roundside carbs, vintage Corbin seat and Yoshimura exhaust, rear custom tucked tail, steel powdercoated headlight with LSL billet ears, Acewell digital dash, LED turn signals, Tarozzi clip-ons, Motion Pro throttle and controls, Dunlop GPR300 tires, radial master cylinder mated to HEL stainless brake lines, mostly new wiring all around but the used the original ignitors and connectors, Shorai lithium battery, Setrab oil cooler, upgraded starter sprag, solid motor mounts, new clutch plates, and 1123cc overbore performed at DiStefano’s Performance Center in Imperial, Pennsylvania.”
