Description

Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 1983 Suzuki RG250 Gamma. Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

The Suzuki RG250 Gamma was introduced in 1983 as the first mass-produced motorcycle with a 100% aluminium box section chassis. This, combined with the light weight of <300 pounds, anti-dive forks, and “Full Floater” rear suspension, is why it is considered by some to be the first street-legal race replica.

The water-cooled 250cc two-stroke motor produced approximately 45 horsepower – a healthy amount when you consider that it weighed just 337 pounds ready to ride. These were never officially sold in the US.

A review in Cycle magazine bemoaned that fact, as they loved what it represented: “Sure, the Gamma will work as a Saturday-cruise-to-the-beach special, and be wasted doing so. In the month we’ve spent with the RG, it’s happier threatening life, limb, and license. No, it’s not unsafe; quite to the contrary, it’ll get you out of trouble as fast as you get yourself into it. Some motorcycles are fun to ride fast, others – better yet – are willing accomplices to misbehavior, and still others – best of all – are almost bonafide perpetrators themselves.”

This example is VIN: GJ21A107749. The seller acquired the bike in July 2020 as an import from Japan.

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 666 kilometers. The odometer shows 15,587 kilometers (9,685 miles).

Maintenance:
In October 2020, the seller had us change the oil, clean and sync the carbs, and service the chain. We also installed the windscreen and mirrors, fitted stainless steel brake lines, flushed the brake fluid, and gave the bike a detailing.

In January 2022, the seller had us clean and sync the carbs. We also charged the battery. He reports that, since that time, he has only covered “a few hundred kilometers.”

In preparation for the listing, the seller had us perform a safety inspection. Our service department notes the following in their condition report:
