Honda was incredibly successful in motorcycle racing in the early 80s but one discipline they hadn’t cracked was dirt track – a series heavily dominated by Harley-Davidson and their legendary XR750. The Japanese company’s first efforts started with a XR500 single and then a CX500 twin which evolved into the NS750. The NS ended up winning one race in the 1982 season but it was clear that Honda needed a purpose-built machine to compete. The RS750 debuted in 1983 with an engine that put out 100 horsepower at over 8,500 rpm.

The RS750 won one race in 1983 and then dominated, winning four straight Grand National Championships from 1984 through 1987 (three of which with Bubba Shobert). Even though Honda pulled the plug on their factory dirt track team in 1988, Ricky Graham ended up winning 12 AMA Nationals (six in a row) and a final championship for the RS750 in 1993. For an incredible history on this iconic machine, check out this great profile by Kevin Cameron on Cycle World.

There is no VIN on the frame, it is engine number RS750DE6122. The seller acquired it 2001 from Tim Torrecillas, the former owner of a privateer flat track race team.

The seller has not ridden the bike during his ownership. There is no odometer, true mileage is unknown.

Mr. Torrecillas was the owner of a three-rider Corbin Racing team in 1997 that was sponsored by Turbo Blue Racing Gasoline/Supertrapp/Pro Plates as noted in this 1998 article in Cycle News, it is presumed that this was one of those bikes.

Per the seller, “it is believed to be an early model because of the experimental dual shock mounting locations.”
