In years prior, the GS series was designed to be an all-around standard. In 1982, Suzuki broke up the biggest GS with different models like the E and the G.

The G became a lazy man’s tourer, which freed the E from its constraints. It evolved into king of the dragstrip. The engine got some extra work, and cosmetics were slightly tweaked, leading to a bike more similar to the early Katana’s, and an engine that produced over 100 horsepower and nearly 70 foot-pounds of torque. For 1982, the ES gained a set of anti-dive Showa forks.

Come 1984, Suzuki decided that the GS deserved a refresh. Accordingly, they bumped the displacement up from 1,074cc to 1,135cc, added some futuristic Katana-inspired styling, and lengthened the wheelbase to stretch some 61 inches. What resulted was a machine that ran a 10.73-second quarter mile at 126.8mph in Cycle World’s period test, making it “by far the quickest bike [they’d] tested, even despite the bad traction.”

This example is VIN: JS1GV71A1F2100891, engine #: V701104211. The seller acquired the bike five years ago. He states that “I am the 4th owner and I purchased it from a private collector who never ran the bike who had also purchased it from a private collector who rarely ran the bike. The bike was originally purchased by the owner of a Suzuki motorcycle dealership who decided to keep the bike for personal use.”

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 150 miles. The odometer shows 6,791 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller reports that he has replaced the battery, the clutches (with steel plates), and the oil and oil filter. Additionally, he has fully serviced the front end with new oil and fork seals, rebuilt the front and rear brake calipers and master cylinders, flushed the brake lines, and replaced the valve cover seals and adjusted the valves. Finally, he cleaned and jetted the carbs, installed new K&N pod filters, and cleaned the fuel tank.

He notes that the “charging system works perfectly — all lights work perfectly, hi/low beam, left and right turn signals, front and rear stop lamp, rear running light and all dash lights.” Moreover, the “factory rear adjustable shock in perfect working order.”

Modifications:
Four-into-one Vance & Hines header with silencer.

Aftermarket windscreen.

Aftermarket red accents.

Aftermarket aluminum rear sprocket.

Not pictured are K&N air filters and a Stage 2 jet kit.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Pirelli Sport Demon and Dunlop D404 tires with date codes of 4009 and 2722.

The sale includes two keys and the original seats and tool kit.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:

Per the seller: “All original plastics in perfect condition with no broken mounting tabs. Original turn signals in perfect shape with no rubber degradation showing.”
