2026-03-10 09:50:00 2026-03-10 10:00:00 America/Los_Angeles 1985 Yamaha FJ1100 Catoosa, Oklahoma - “The best large displacement sport motorcycle of 1984, and maybe even the best in its class in the history of motorcycling.” - Rider Magazine, 1984. https://iconicmotorbikeauctions.com/auction/1985-yamaha-fj1100-2/ Iconic Motorbike Auctions concierge@iconicmotorbikes.com

Please Note: As noted in the VINData report for this bike, the title states that the odometer mileage is not actual.

When the Yamaha FJ1100 was introduced in 1984, the press went nuts. Rider Magazine called it “the best large displacement sport motorcycle of 1984, and maybe even the best in its class in the history of motorcycling,” and other mags called it Bike of the Year.

It was a completely new design and it revolutionized what sport-touring bikes would become – big power and plenty of plastic. Thanks to the 125 horsepower/1098cc engine, the FJ1100 could hit 146 miles per hour. As Sport Rider put it in a 1996 retrospective: “Chassis design was a chapter considered closed by many Yamaha faithful, but the 1100’s square-section steel perimeter frame broke new ground for the marque and provided proof that racing does improve the breed. Handling was described by most as a good combination of responsiveness and stability, especially compared with such log trucks as the GPz1100 and GS1150. Honda’s VF1000F and Kawasaki’s 900 Ninja steered lighter but were less stable, especially the Kawi. It seemed the big FJ was the best of both worlds.”

This example is VIN: JYA50H00XFA013471. The seller acquired it from a private party via an Iconic Motorbikes auction in December 2025.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 25 miles. The odometer shows 16,245 miles.

I bought it with the intention of using it as a sport touring bike on an upcoming trip and subsequently bought a BMW K1200RS for the same purpose. Thus I now have redundant bikes and am selling the FJ1100. The bike has Yoshimura mufflers on stock headpipes and collector box. I’ve purchased and included a set of stock mufflers and also a complete stock airbox to go with the sale so the bike can be returned to pure stock condition easily. I was preparing this bike for my upcoming 6,000 mile trip and the only thing left to do is tires, it’s a nice, solid motorcycle with low miles.”

Maintenance:
Change spark plugs
Changed oil and filter
Adjusted valves
Checked brake pads and fluid
Cleaned air filter
Replaced battery
Added battery tender lead

Modifications:
Yoshimura exhaust.

Battery tender lead.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on tires that have aged out with date codes of 168 and 1711.

The sale includes one ignition key.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album in the “Photos” tab for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
Bike shows very well with minor imperfections but overall very nice condition.”
