As you may have seen on social media, Iconic recently acquired a collection of two-stroke bikes and parts from Europe, many of which came from the collection of Lance Gamma. We’re looking forward to getting these out to the Iconic community in the future and you’ll be able to see more on Moto Market soon. Here’s a RZV500 that Lance used to own himself!

When Yamaha debuted the RZ500 (known in some other markets as the RD500) in 1984, it was arguably the first production race replica.

Built to emulate Kenny Roberts’ YZR500 factory racer, the RZ500 was the closest thing two-stroke enthusiasts had to a GP competitor for the road… as long as you didn’t live in the United States of America. Emissions rules put in place by the EPA prevented Yamaha from selling the RZ500 in the US, so the select few we get to enjoy had to be imported (typically from Canada). The RZV variant as listed here featured a much lighter hand-welded aluminum frame.

If you’d like to know more, the RZ/RD 500 Owner’s Group is an excellent source of information and as well as this article explaining some of the best improvements one can make for the bike.

This bike came from a collection belonging to former racer Ed Uding from Holland who you may know from his work with aerodynamics in racing as well as his current venture working with Deloreans.

The bike previously belonged to none other than Rick Lance of Lance Gamma.

This example is VIN: 51X020632.

The odometer shows 55,454 KM which is 34,457 miles.
