Description

Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 1986 Honda NS400R.

In 1983, Freddie Spencer became the world’s youngest 500cc World Champion, and he did it on a Honda V3. Honda responded by releasing a 250cc production bike to commemorate the win, but it took them until 1985 to build something closer to the actual size of Freddie’s champion. That was the NS400R, and even though it gave up 100cc and plenty of power to the race bike, Honda called it a “race replica”.

The two-stroke V-3 displaced 387cc and it was good for 72 horsepower and 37 pound feet of torque, both at nearly 10,000 rpm. Oh – and the whole thing weighed less than 360 pounds. Depending on who you talked to, the NS400R wasn’t as fast or aggressive as the 500cc race reps from Yamaha and Suzuki – but the tradeoff was that this was a confident handling bike. A review re-hosted on Motorcycle Specs says, “The NS is exciting and pretty near faultless.”

This example is VIN: NC191002965. The seller states “This bike really pulls really hard when reved up. Honestly I enjoy riding the ns400r more than the rzv500 surprisingly; I feel the ns400r pulls harder and feels much lighter too, this is truly a nice machine I was pleasantly surprised with this bike, I feel its way under rated and unknown, compared to the rzv500. Will miss this bike for sure.”

The odometer shows 7,826 KM which is 4,862 miles. The seller states “This motorcycle was purchased from Japan.” the seller has covered approximately 80 miles during his 3 years of ownership.

Maintenance:
The seller states “Carburetors completely cleaned, new spark plugs, air filter, drained all engine fluids and replaced them with new. Front and rear brake fluids were flushed, new chain was installed. The bike has no mechanical issues, starts nice and easy when cold, idles nice and smooth and pulls hard when in the high rpms.”

The seller states “the bike is all stock.”
