When it was released, the VF1000R was a bit of a revelation: it was Honda’s flagship, designed to showcase what the Japanese firm was capable of. It was also a huge tease to US riders, because it was initially only released in Europe only – America got the VF1000F instead, which was designed to be more of a touring bike.

The R was Honda’s first road bike to benefit from gear-driven cams and came decked out in fully faired, racer replica bodywork with rearset footpegs and adjustable clip-on handlebars for a more racer-ready riding position.

This example is VIN: JH2SC1606GM100515; Engine: SC16E220517. The seller purchased the bike January 2019.

During his ownership the seller has covered approximately two miles. The odometer shows 44,094 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller states, “Items showing any wear were replaced or refurbished. This includes all rubber parts down to the original kickstand rubber, footrests, gear selector cover, grips, etc. All serviceable items were replaced including new fork seals, chain, sprocket, tires, oil and all filters and spark plugs. All master and slave cylinders were rebuilt.”

Dreamcycle performed an inspection of the bike upon intake and notes the following:

Gas tank: Has a liner
Tire year Front: 3517; Rear 1718
Tire life Front: 100%; Rear 100%
Tire pressure Front: 40psi; Rear 40psi
Brake life Front: 80%; Rear 100%
Hydraulic Brake Fluid Front: New; Rear: Needs replacing
Gear box oil: New; Level: Good
Coolant level: Good
Suspension Leaks: None
Drive chain condition: Good
Low beam: Working
High beam: Working
Turn signal: Good
Brake Light: lever front good. Rear pedal not working.
Plate light: Not working
Kill: Good
Horn: Not working
Battery: New
Test ride in parking lot: Starts easy, idles nice, lacking in throttle response as you rev up. Most likely has some partly clogged jets. It may need the carbs cleaned or riding it with some carb cleaning additive may clear it up. Front left brake caliper is leaking some brake fluid.

Modifications:
Braided brake and clutch lines.

Professionally resprayed & seat was re-upholstered.

Not shown: YSS rear shock, black silicone hoses.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Pirelli Sport Demon tires with date codes of 3517 and 1718.

The sale includes three keys, the owner’s manual, and a selection of take-off parts.
