While the GSX-R750 debuted in 1985 for most countries, the US first got it and the bigger brother 1100 in 1986. The 1100 was bigger and stronger with a 1052cc, four-cylinder, oil-cooled, four-stroke in-line motor housed in a lightweight aluminum frame.

This meant the new full fairing icon was capable of 128bhp at 8,500 rpm and 70 ft-lbs at 8,000 rpm. At 434 pounds dry, the 1100 was surprisingly light upon release. It also became the first road bike to have a cartridge fork setup and electronically activated suspension.

As Bennetts found in its review, “On the open road it was astonishing. Fast and torquey like nothing else I’d ridden, but nimble too, feeling like what I imagined a proper race bike would as it flicked from left to right on the smallest of rider inputs.”

This example is VIN: JS1GU74A4H2100255. The seller has owned the bike three years.

The odometer shows 25,859 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller states, “I recently did the brakes, both front and rear, cleaned the carbs, installed a new gold chain, and replaced all fluids.”

Modifications:
Aftermarket grips and lever.

Aftermarket nose and windshield.

Not picture: Stainless steel brake lines, gold chain.

Inside of the tank:
The seller notes, “Tank looks to have been coated inside but has no leaks.”
