The Yamaha YX600 Radian pairs a detuned version of Yamaha’s sportbike derived inline four with a comfortable, upright chassis that makes it far more usable in the real world. Built in the mid-’80s, the Radian avoids much of the bulky, awkward styling of its era, offering a clean, athletic look.
The Radian has a smooth, free revving 4 cylinder engine, a slick shifting six speed gearbox, dual front disc brakes, and handling that feels light and communicative in the corners. At roughly 425 pounds dry with a relatively low seat height, it’s also approachable.
Like many bikes of the era, it comes with a bit of character. The Radian stands out as an engaging, underrated option that delivers far more than its modest reputation suggests.

The seller acquired it from the original owner. “The first owner had all work done at the dealership from new until 1999 at which time he brought it in for service and unfortunately passed away while it was being serviced. The family never reclaimed the bike so it was stored in their warehouse for 27 years until finally they were cleaning out all older bikes and I was able to buy this in December 2025, from the same person at the dealership who sold it originally in 1986.”

“My intention with this bike was to keep it as original as possible for nostalgia sake and the history of the machine. I did not paint or refinish anything on it, nor did I try to cover the patina. It is a time capsule of a true survivor bike and a tribute to the gentleman who bought it and cared for it until his passing. Great motorcycle and a wondeful story with it. It is absolutely stock and original down to the stickers on the rear fender.”
Maintenance:
“When I got the bike it was in original condition just had been setting for 27 years. But during the time before storage it was well cared for so it only needed to be cleaned and brought back to life. So, I cleaned carbs, flushed the tank, replaced the throttle cable, cleaned other cables and lubed, new air filter, new oil and filter new battery, new tires, cleaned and lubed the chain, cleaned and flushed the brake system, new fork oil, checked all lights and horn. Everything works as it should.”
Mechanical Issues:
“This bike has no mechanical issues whatsoever, it runs as new and operates perfectly.”
Modifications:
“Nothing, it is bone stock original and complete other than a battery tender lead and an inline fuel filter.”

It is riding on Shinko SR741 tires with date codes of 2425 and 2725.
