When it debuted in 1986, the Ducati Paso 750 was unlike anything else on the road. Designed by Massimo Tamburini and named in tribute to racer Renzo Pasolini, the Paso introduced fully enclosed bodywork that was as aerodynamic as it was elegant, a radical step forward in motorcycle design. Beneath the sleek fairing sat a 748cc air cooled L-twin producing around 65 horsepower, paired with a square tube steel frame that balanced rigidity, accessibility, and clean packaging.

Tamburini used the Paso project to completely rethink Ducati’s chassis philosophy. He tightened the steering rake from 31 to 25 degrees, lengthened the swingarm, and optimized the geometry around 16 inch radial tires. The result was one of the most balanced and responsive chassis designs the company had ever produced, capable of delivering both long distance comfort and remarkable precision through the corners.

A Weber 44 DCNF twin choke carburetor sat at the heart of the Paso’s unique induction system, improving torque and throttle response, though its enclosed fairing made the carb sensitive to heat in slow traffic. Despite such quirks, the Paso 750 remains an important piece of Ducati history. A striking, visionary design that bridged the brand’s classic bevel era with its modern superbike future.
