The first year of the first generation – this is the bike that started the CBR line in the US. It was quick enough to compete in 600cc racing, but user friendly enough to still enjoy on the street during the week. When it first came out, it was quite an improvement on the competition – Kawasaki’s GPZ600 (arguably the class leader at the time) was 28 pounds heavier and down 12 horsepower. This was the first 600cc sport bike capable of a sub 11 second quarter mile.

This example is VIN: JH2PC1914HM002174. The seller acquired it three months ago as a project from a private party in Huntington Beach, California.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 20 miles. The odometer shows 29,808 miles.

The bike had been sitting for a few years. It runs and rides, shifts normal, the front and rear brakes work, and all lights work. It seems all original and is a great project!

Maintenance:
During his ownership, the seller has replaced the fuel pump, battery, petcock, and he’s changed the oil. He notes that it “needs the tank cleaned before it’s used as a fuel source, needs the coolant flushed, and there’s a small coolant leak.”

Modifications:
The seller states that this bike is stock.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller notes “cracks, dents, slight surface rust, and amateur paint on part of the bike.”

Inside of the tank:
