Thanks to 125Stradali.com, a website dedicated to Italian-built 2-strokes, we can fill you in a bit on the history of this rare machine that’s almost never found in the US. One would assume that a Honda sold in their home market of Japan would also have been built there, but this oddball was actually built by Honda Italy and then exported to Japan.

In the early 80s, the 125cc market was fiercely competitive in Italy due to licensing regulations. The local government placed high taxes on imported motorcycles, so Honda made sure that their plant in Atessa (founded in 1976) was cranking out 125s to compete. Honda Italy offered a NS125R as well as a NS125RII, the latter named for having two front brake discs.

As stated in a Bike magazine review in 1989, the “NS125R is Italian in everything but in name. Still, the bike loses nothing being from Italy and gains in the form of Marzocchi front and rear suspension, Dell’Orto carburation, and looks that are geared towards a style-conscious market – Italian youth.”

This example is VIN: TC0151747B. The seller purchased the bike while stationed in Vicenza, Italy ten years ago.

During his ownership the seller has covered approximately 200 miles. The odometer shows 29,808 kilometers (18,521 miles).

Maintenance:
Per the seller, the “Motor turns over, goes into gears properly, and has spark. The bike comes with the correct ignition key.

Modifications:
Per the seller, “It has original Rothman package with original graphics that previous owner re-striped.”

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on tires that are aged out.

The sale includes one key, a Haynes manual, as well as a spare U.S.-spec odometer.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
Missing lower fairing and seat cowl, needs new turn indicator stalks, seat is cracked, non original striping tape.
