Description
Additional photos of this Husqvarna 430 Automatic are available here for your perusal.
Designed on spec for the Swedish Army, the Husqvarna automatic bikes were built to be practical and easy to use. They proved to be interesting enough to survive in the commercial market for 12 years, ending in the late 80s with the 430 model you see here.
The majority of the autos had a 4-speed auto with 4 centrifugal clutches.
When you decelerated, the powerplant went into freewheeling mode, and then when you got back on the throttle, the bike would decide the appropriate gear based on rear wheel speed.
If you’re a baseball fan, you may appreciate that the owner of this machine (VIN: ZHUAE4305J9020049, Engine Number: 21810128) is Robin Yount, the Hall of Fame shortstop! He acquired it on eBay in a crate and assembled it himself.
The odometer shows just 2.7 miles.
We note three cosmetic flaws: some scratches on the left sidecover.
Crease in the right sidecover.
Scratch on the left side of the tank near the seat junction:
Original down to the Trelleborg Ten-Master Motocross 744 tires, this beautiful Husky is a time-travel machine that’ll take you back to 30 years ago.
