Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 1987 Suzuki GSX-R1100.
While the GSX-R750 debuted in 1985 for most countries, the US first got it and the bigger brother 1100 in 1986. It was an instant classic – an aluminum box frame housed a 128 horsepower oil-cooled engine, and it looked the part thanks to the full bodywork. The dry weight was 433 pounds, an impressively low number for the time.
It also became the first road bike to have a cartridge fork setup and electronically activated suspension. As Bennetts found in its review, “On the open road it was astonishing. Fast and torquey like nothing else I’d ridden, but nimble too, feeling like what I imagined a proper race bike would as it flicked from left to right on the smallest of rider inputs.”
This example is VIN: GU74B102256. Engine: U704102255. The seller purchased the bike one year ago from a private party and states, “This beautiful GSXR was purchased from a private seller in California who purchased it from Iconic approximately 3 to 4 years ago. It had previously gone through a regiment of maintenance from Iconic. I have all of that documentation. When I purchased it from the gentleman in California it needed some paint work, clutch work, starter, and all of the hydraulics needed to be flushed, cleaned and rebuilt, including the brakes. The motorcycle looks and runs fantastic. It originally had a Yoshi pipe on it when I purchased it, and I put the original exhaust back on it. The carbs have been completely rebuilt to spec. All in all, I would say that I put another $3,000 into this bike after purchasing it from the seller in California. It is now titled in my name and ready for the next rider/purchaser. The reserve is much less than I have invested in the motorcycle if you’re looking for a reliable great looking rider that will treat you right for years to come. This is it.”
During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 100 miles. The odometer shows 24,697 miles.
Maintenance:
The seller notes, “Documentation from Iconic Motorbikes for around $5,000 all hydraulic fluids changed, brakes, clutch wheel bearings, new starter, new tires.”
Modifications:
According to the seller, the bike is stock.
It is riding on Pirelli Gran Turismo Angel GT tires with date codes of 2622 and 2622.
Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
