Please Note: The VINData Report for this bike states that in 1998, a California title was issue with a “Not Actual Mileage” brand. “Titled with 10,838 miles, but title states “not actual mileage”, as I had to take the motorcycle to the CHP and I guess they must’ve marked that down since the bike was not in the system, as they say.”
Though the model debuted in 1985, Suzuki’s legendary Gixxer line did not make its way to the US until 1986. The changes were minor – better headlights, a revised belly pan, and 25mm longer swingarm, but Americans were probably too busy drooling over the first true street-legal race replica sold in this market to notice.

Those aren’t just our words – Suzuki specifically marketed the Gixxer as a “racebike for the street” and backed it up with a design that featured a 749cc inline-four motor fed by 31mm Mikuni carbs and Suzuki’s Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber with 16 valve heads. It put down 80 horsepower at the rear wheel (106 at the crank) through a six-speed transmission, and impressively the engine weighed 30 pounds less than the previous GS750 motor (even though that was air-cooled).

Weight savings were not just limited to the motor. The whole bike weighed just 388 pounds dry, which was a revelation at the time. The GSX-R750 inspired copycats from the other Japanese manufacturers and impressively, it’s still in production today.

In Australia, Suzuki offered a special black/gold livery that’s become known as the “Hyper Endurancer,” and the seller of this bike has created a tribute.

Manufactured in January of 1987, this example is VIN: JS1GR75A7H2100573. The seller acquired it two years ago as a rolling project.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 2,000 miles. The odometer shows 12,112 miles.

Maintenance:
“It had forks recently rebuilt with new springs at Micky Cohen Motorsports in Placentia, CA. Bike serviced and tuned, carbs rebuilt, new chain and sprockets, new tires, new wheel bearing were installed when I had the wheels powdercoated, seat recovered, all OE bodywork repainted. Has Yoshimura side covers(chrome), resealed side covers, clutch excellent condition and works well. Rebuilt brake calipers with new EBC pads, Brake masters rebuilt with OE parts, Clutch master cylinder rebuilt, new OE clutch slave cylinder which is still available from Suzuki and pricey. Carbs rebuilt and jetted, starts up easily cold and settles into idle quickly when choke shut off after only a few seconds. New oil and Suzuki oil filter. New air pods, new throttle cable. New OE/NOS brake and clutch levers, left and right grips/throttle, OE brake and clutch lever pads. All fasteners for fairings and bike in general are Suzuki OE sourced either from the Suzuki dealership (MotoUnited in Bellflower, CA), EBAY, the Suzuki forums and community, or my contacts with misc parts. Top clamp is re-powdercoated, as are the handle bars. Rear fender is uncut, and a European tail lamp has been installed, instead of the flat USA version. All 4 locks work off of 1 key for all. There is a second duplicate key. The gauge holder, upper fairing stay and rear grab handle(under the side/tail covers were all blasted and powdercoated, the rear sets and pegs have been vapor blasted and rebuilt with correct rider peg cushions installed(excellent condition parts). Frame is excellent and looks nearly new.”
