Yamaha first got into the ATV game with the three-wheeled YT125 in 1980. As the decade progressed other Japanese manufacturers, like Honda and Suzuki, started producing single-cylinder two-stroke sport quads. Not wanting to miss out on a growing market, Yamaha decided to take the twin parallel two-stroke engine from the iconic RZ350 and cram it inside a sport quad chassis.

The resulting package weighed 405 pounds wet, had a 6-speed automatic transmission, dual Mikuni 26mm carbs, and a kick start. It produced 34 horsepower, had a top speed approximately 75 miles per hour, and brandished a true hooligan look with dual exhaust pipes coming right out the front.

This example is VIN: JY42GU002HC009240; Engine: 2GU009240. The seller purchased the bike three years ago from a private party in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and states, “I was looking for a Banshee, found this one in a barn super dusty and got a great deal on it. When I cleaned it I realized it was too good to be used in mud or dirt and me being the collector I am, decided to not use it. I can’t afford having a bike just sitting in my garage anymore. I want to ride.”

There is no odometer. True mileage unknown.

Maintenance:
The seller reports changing the fluid and spark plugs.
Modifications:
Per the seller, “Only swapped the Yamaha and Banshee decals. They were in bad shape when bought it.”

It is riding on Dunlop KT764 and KT768 tires with date codes of 416.
