While the GSX-R750 debuted in 1985 for most countries, the US first got it and the bigger brother 1100 in 1986. It was an instant classic – an aluminum box frame housed a 128 horsepower oil-cooled engine, and it looked the part thanks to the full bodywork. The dry weight was 433 pounds, an impressively low number for the time.

Manufactured in October of 1987, this example is VIN: JS1GU74A8J2100409. The seller acquired it nine years ago from a private party.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 150 miles. “I never wanted to take the chance that it could be damaged.” The odometer shows 23,286 miles.

When I bought it, it had a Vance and Hines exhaust and direct pull flatslide carbs with K&N filters. I wanted it absolutely stock so I searched the US for the OEM parts. I removed the guard from the exhaust system, had it ceramic powder coated and reattached the guard with OEM stainless blind rivets. The bike has been completely apart, cleaned, all original hardware installed including the small plastic SHCS covers and had any bad rubber replaced. Only OEM parts were used.”

The “original carbs, airbox, and exhaust are intact. It could use to be professionally tuned. Ever since I have had it, it would not idle down around 1000RPM until it is fully warmed up. This may be a symptom of the oil cooling which makes all these engines take a long time to warm up, but it needs to be choked for a long time.”

Modifications:
Aftermarket blue tinted windscreen.

It has a Vance and Hines ignition module which I have never messed with. The timing and spark is good and it runs so I never changed anything.”

Cosmetic Blemishes:
“There is some small chips around the perimeter of the left hand mirror.”

Missing fork cap covers which are on order and will be installed at time of purchase.”

Unfortunately, the tool bag is missing. I do have an original service manual in PDF format.” The seller notes a new battery, saying that everything runs perfectly.

The seller sums up his bike by asking, “please only buy this bike if you are interested in keeping it perfect, there are a lot of old Gixxers out there to mess around on if all you want to do is go fast. I have been to a lot of shows with it, it draws a crowd and is ALWAYS the only one there.” Currently located in Davisburg, Michigan, this Suzuki is offered on a clean Michigan title.
