Additional photos of this Yamaha FZR1000 are available here for your perusal.
This 1988 Yamaha FZR is the second year of the original FZR1000 model that was a trendsetter with its Deltabox aluminum frame and 5-valve Genesis engine.
With 130 hp on tap and a curb weight of a bit over 500 lbs, the first generation FZR1000 was capable of a 155 mph top speed. Interestingly, this same five-valve engine architecture would become the basis of Yamaha’s V8 Formula One car for the 1989 series. Along with a stout engine and a futuristic frame, the new FZR also wore lightweight 17″ wheels front and rear and very modern looking bodywork.
This example is VIN: JYA2LHEO9JA010931.
The odometer shows 25,845 miles.
Modifications:
Yoshimura exhaust.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
Flaw in the paint on the tank.
Cracks in the upper cowl on the left side.
Scratches on the left lower fairing.
There is rust and corrosion on the petcock and various other parts.
Corrosion on tank cap. We are unable to get the tank open and cannot verify the condition of the inside.
This Yamaha FZR1000 is in non running condition and will need to be gone over before use. It will also need a new battery.
Currently located at our facility in Glenwood, Iowa (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Yamaha is offered on a clean Iowa title. Have any FZR1000 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
