Nowadays you can get all kinds of 250-400cc entry level sportbikes in the US, but back in 1990 the entire market was basically the Kawasaki Ninja 250 and the Honda VTR250. In Honda’s home market of Japan, things were a bit more exciting. That’s where they offered the CBR250R, affectionately known as the Babyblade.

The 250cc inline four engine produced 45 horsepower (back when the Ninja 250 made about 32) and redline was an astonishing 18,000 rpm – the highest of any mass-produced motorcycle at the time.

This example is VIN: MC191020012. The seller imported it from Japan in 2021.

During his ownership, the seller has covered roughly 1,000 kilometers. The odometer shows 9,261 kilometers (5,754 miles)..

The seller is letting it go as he “needs the space. I was hoping to use it as a track bike but decided against it, it’s a bit too special for that.”

Maintenance:
“The cylinder head gasket was replaced in 2022, and the following was done in early 2026:

Oil change
Coolant flush
Ultrasonic clean carbs
Rebuild and synchronize carbs
Carburetor fuel rail O-rings
Front brake caliper rebuild
Brake pads
Fork seals
Fork oil
Fuel filter
Spark plugs
Headlight rubber gaskets
Plastic weld left fairing mounting point

Tires
Battery
Rebuild rear caliper
Rear master cylinder
Intake boots
Lube throttle cables
Lube speedometer cable
Fuel lines
Bar ends
Ignition wires
Ignition caps
Ignition coils
Front master cylinder

It is mechanically perfect with no known issues, other than the speedometer cable being a little bouncy. It is an intermittent issue, and the whining/bouncy speedometer cable seems to be slowly fixing itself with every ride. The last ride it never whined.

Modifications:
Tail tidy.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Michelin Pilot Street 2 tires with date codes of 3624 and 3925.

The sale includes 2 ignition keys, service manual, and a few spare parts.

The sale does not include this awesome dog.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album in the “Photos” tab for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
The bike has normal wear for a vehicle its age, and the windscreen has a very small stress fracture.”
