Introduced in 1988, the ZX-10 was also known as the Tomcat in certain countries. It also had another name when it was released: the fastest production motorcycle in the world, thanks to a 165 mile-per-hour top speed!
That was possible due to 997cc engine, which evolved from the unit out of the GPz1000RX but gained bigger valves and a higher compression ratio en route to producing 135 horsepower and 75 ft-lbs of torque.
Surrounding the engine was Kawasaki’s first use of a perimeter aluminum frame, which helped keep weight at 541 pounds dry.
