Introduced in 1989, the ZXR400 was one of the first motorcycles that would compete in the hotly-contested 400cc market in Japan. The 1990 model was also known as the H2, and it came with minor revisions including a curved radiator and some updates to the swingarm. It was also the last year to feature the iconic dual headlights.
The ’90 model featured an impressive 14,500 rpm redline, near the power peak of 12,500 rpm (where the engine was putting out 61 horsepower). The engine was paired with a six-speed transmission, triple disc brakes, and a dry weight of 359 pounds.
Manufactured on April 1st, 1990, this example is VIN: ZX400H007556. The seller acquired it twelve years ago as a project from a private party in the Bay Area.
He has ridden it less than 500 miles. The odometer shows 47,907 kilometers (29,768 miles).
Modifications:
Yoshimura TRS exhaust.
When the seller acquired it, he noted that the OEM plastics had a little bit of sun damage (no cracks) so he had all of the bodywork repainted in the livery of the SP model (the difference is that the tail piece section has the number plate).
