A year after Suzuki changed the sportbike game with the GSX-R750 in 1985, they rolled out the big brother GSX-R1100. The press and the public ate it up, but that didn’t stop Suzuki from making changes every single year.
1990’s “L” model brought a longer (+1.4″) swingarm, improved suspension, and new Michelin tires. The engine put out 143 horsepower to motivate a claimed dry weight of 462 pounds.
Manufactured in September of 1989, this example is VIN: JS1GV73A6L2100359, Engine #: V710-105871. The seller acquired it six years ago out of a local collection. He acquired it as a display piece and says that the previous owner drained the carbs, fogged the engine and otherwise prepped the bike correctly for long-term display.
During his ownership, the seller did not ride this bike. The odometer shows 9,933 miles.
