Description
Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 1990 Suzuki GSX-R1100.
A year after Suzuki changed the sportbike game with the GSX-R750 in 1985, they rolled out the big brother GSX-R1100. The press and the public ate it up, but that didn’t stop Suzuki from making changes every single year.
Basic specifications of the ’90 model were 145 horsepower and 485 pounds – heavy nowadays but a featherweight when it was released. A Modern Classic review on Bennetts describes the 1100 Gixxer by saying, “on the open road it was astonishing. Fast and torquey like nothing else I’d ridden, but nimble too, feeling like what I imagined a proper race bike would as it flicked from left to right on the smallest of rider inputs.”
This example is VIN: JS1GV73A5L2101499. Engine: V706109762. The seller purchased the bike three years ago and states, “Too many bikes and not enough time. I bought this with another bike as a set and was going to refresh it and build it out as a hot rod commuter but I rode it an 1/8 of a mile, parked it 3 years ago and haven’t had time to touch it. Time for somebody else to make something out of it. It deserves to live in some way.”
True mileage unknown. The odometer shows 71,890 miles.
Maintenance:
Per the seller, “Have performed ZERO maintenance. It will need work. No documentation. It has had a motor swap at some point previous to my ownership but I have no documentation for that. Carbs need adjustment/cleaning, tank should be cleaned. Should have all fluids flushed. I rode it today around my shop space (not enough room to get out of second gear) but the battery is dead. It runs but the video I have is after I jumped it. Front fork seals are bad and have leaked on the rotor. Pipe may not be the correct fit – contacts lower fairing.”
Modifications:
“It has a Yoshimura pipe (missing badge), conversion to a 1992 inverted front fork. Powder coated black wheels, stainless brake & clutch lines, Mikuni RS38 carbs. Newish Conti tires, barely used.”
It is riding on Continental ContiSportAttack tires with date codes of 0319 and 1119.
The sale includes three keys, extra bodywork, Yoshimura decal, and extra odometer.
Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“It is a PROJECT. Multiple small scratches and blemishes. Left rear side panel is cracked. Both rear side panel body mount tabs are damaged. Small crack on upper right front fairing, crack in right headlight lens, age-related paint discoloration.”
Currently located in Arcata, California, this Suzuki is offered on a clean California title. Per the California DMV, it will cost $307 to bring California registration current through June 2026.
