Additional photos of this 1991 Yamaha DT50 LC are available here for your perusal.
Going all the way back to 1968, Yamaha’s DT lineup was popular from the beginning – the originally DT-1 sold out of its initial run as it basically defined what a dual-sport could be and buyers couldn’t get enough of it. The DT prefix lasted for decades across a variety of machines displacing between 50cc and 400cc. Here’s one of the small ones, which was built between 1981-1996.
The DT50 was a tiny dual-sport powered by a 49cc two-stroke single, with a 2.2 gallon fuel tank, 19″/17″ wheels, and (by 1991) a six-speed transmission. The US and Europe got a liquid cooled version (denoted as the LC) – it’s nothing fancy, but it was enough to approach 60 miles per hour and you can ride it on just about any surface.
This example is VIN: 3UN016115, Engine #: 3UN016115.
The odometer shows 9,393 kilometers (5,836 miles)
This came to us from the collection in South Africa that we’ve recently been selling. We do not have maintenance history on it, but in preparation for the listing we cleaned and rebuilt the carb, cleaned the tank, and installed a new battery. Our shop notes that the turn signals do not work and the tires should be replaced.
Modifications:
Reflector on front fairing.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
We note corrosion on several metal parts:
There are also a few minor scratches:
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California, this Yamaha is offered on a Bill of Sale only. Have any DT50 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the comments!
