Description

Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

Bimotas are notorious for their exclusivity, Italian style, and characteristically over-the-top engineering. The YB10 Dieci (named for Bimota’s 10th collaboration with Yamaha) was no exception — just 224 examples were made, and each one featured a billet aluminum frame, a seamless one-piece upper fairing, a set of two-tone three-spoke wheels, and a distinctive red and silver livery.

And the YB10 wasn’t just eye candy; it was also a real performer. Beneath the bike’s exotic exterior, it housed the powerplant from a FZR1000. Instead of the Yamaha’s fuel injection, however, it utilized a set of Mikuni 38mm carbs. Together, such a setup was good for a healthy 145hp and 69.4lb-ft of torque. On the road, this meant that the much lighter Bimota (407lbs to the FZR1000’s 472lbs) could take riders to a top speed of 172mph.

Add to that a set of upside down Marzocchi forks, a set of powerful Brembo calipers, and an improved riding position, and you have all the makings of a proper classic. As Bennetts puts it in their overview: “If you’re going to buy one now, then this one, or any of the other Yamaha FZ750/FZR1000-powered machines strike the best balance between performance, desirability and price.”

This example is VIN: ZESS8YA2XMRZES067. This is one of over thirty motorcycles that we have been auctioning off from the Alan Wilzig collection. Alan has had this on display for years and has not ridden it at all.

The odometer shows 5,435 miles.
