Bimotas are notorious for their exclusivity, Italian style, and characteristically over-the-top engineering. The YB10 Dieci (named for Bimota’s 10th collaboration with Yamaha) was no exception — just 224 examples were made, and each one featured a billet aluminum frame, a seamless one-piece upper fairing, a set of two-tone three-spoke wheels, and a distinctive red and silver livery.

And the YB10 wasn’t just eye candy; it was also a real performer. Beneath the bike’s exotic exterior, it housed the powerplant from a FZR1000. Instead of the Yamaha’s fuel injection, however, it utilized a set of Mikuni 38mm carbs. Together, such a setup was good for a healthy 145hp and 69.4lb-ft of torque. On the road, this meant that the much lighter Bimota (407lbs to the FZR1000’s 472lbs) could take riders to a top speed of 172mph.

Add to that a set of upside down Marzocchi forks, a set of powerful Brembo calipers, and an improved riding position, and you have all the makings of a proper classic — especially when you consider the low production numbers (just 224). As Bennetts puts it in their overview: “If you’re going to buy one now, then this one, or any of the other Yamaha FZ750/FZR1000-powered machines strike the best balance between performance, desirability and price.”

Manufactured in January of 1991, this example is VIN: ZESS8YA21MRZES071.

The odometer shows 1,778 miles.

The seller has owned this bike since 2005, he is being represented by our friends over at Seattle Used Bikes.

Maintenance:
“We’ve meticulously gone through the carbs and fuel system, replacing both fuel valves with OEM parts sourced directly from Bimota Italy. When we went through the carbs, we did bump up the stock pilot jets by one size. The bodywork remains in fantastic condition with no signs of stress cracks or weathering. Every detail has been closely inspected, pivot points lubricated, and all components routed correctly and functioning. The bike has also received full service, including all fluids, fork seals, new Michelin Road 6’s, and a new Yuasa battery. We sourced a new windscreen from Gustavson in Florida and had to cut and shape a new seat pad as the old one had decayed on the edges a bit.”

Modifications:
Termignoni exhaust.

It is riding on Michelin Road 6 tires with date codes of 0822 and 0922.

The sale includes the original keys and owner’s manual.
