In the seller’s words, “I guess the whole point of this bike is that it’s the closest you can get to a 2t 250GP of the 90’s as far as performance, without spending crazy money or spending your time on fixing it: it’s a reliable track toy that makes about 80hp and weighs 140 kg wet.”

It’s quite a custom effort so we’ll leave it to him to summarize it:
Special Racing Bike – 1991 Cagiva Mito frame with a Yamaha RD350 YPVS engine rebuilt to 400cc.

Front end (forks, brakes, calipers, and wheel) from a Suzuki RGV Gamma 250.

Hand-built custom expansion chambers.

Bodywork is reinforced fiberglass, with the front section derived from a Yamaha 250GP.

Rear section uses an original Cagiva Mito tail, modified and adapted.

The bike has only done a few miles since completion, which was finished in 2025.

It has a custom (simplified) new wiring harness (including ignition coil) mated to a Zeeltronic programmable ECU.

The paint scheme is a tribute to the iconic Kenny Roberts Yamaha 500GP and is in very nice condition.

The original Cagiva Mito seat has been reupholstered and made slightly thicker at the front for a better riding position.

Weight is approximately 276 lbs dry and just under 298 lbs track-ready (with fluids and battery).

The engine makes around 80 hp, currently set up with relatively rich jetting.
This example is VIN: 8P001718. The seller acquired it one year ago from the individual who started this project, “a known local racer close to Bologna, Italy.”

There is no odometer, true mileage is unknown. The seller has covered 2 miles with it since completing the project.

“I bought it out of pure passion and love, but at 6’4″ I don’t fit on it, and as much as I love owning it, I’ll never use it.”
Maintenance:
“When I bought it it was non functional, the original builder focused on the mechanical: rebuilt forks, calipers, engine bored out to 400cc and making it all fit and line up in the chassis. They made engine supports by welding aluminum (anticorodal) struts on the Mito frame, installed a Bitubo shock etc… They tried to retain the original RD350 wiring loom and ECU and it was just old and brittle, and it ran poorly.

In my hands it got a full service (oil, spark plugs, coolant, new fuel lines, cleaned carbs, brake fluid etc…) I had the entire wiring loom done from scratch, new Zeeltronic dedicated ECU (programmable), new plug wires, new coil, pod air filters and a general “cleaning up” of the initial build. I have photos of most of it.”
It is riding on Mitas slicks with date codes of 1816 and 1916.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album in the “Photos” tab for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“There are minor scuffs here and there, and there is a general coating of oil on the mechanical parts being a 2 stroke assembled from 30/40 year old motorcycle parts, but nothing shows badly. It has done less than 20 miles so it shows great.”

Currently located in Verbania, Italy, this Cagiva is offered on a Bill of Sale only. The frame “has been de-registered from the Italian State for decades, so no “libretto” (aka title). It was bought and will be sold with a bill of sale.” Have any questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
