We never planned on selling this bike (it even has a “NOT FOR SALE” sticker on the windshield, but a buyer made us an offer and now she’s gone.

In a case like this, we still want to share sale prices to help aid you in valuing these “iconic” motorbikes!

The increasing popularity of the World Superbike Championship since its inception in 1988 has been responsible for the introduction of over-the-counter road bikes boasting specifications aimed squarely at the racetrack. The most famous of these limited edition ‘homologation specials’ is Honda’s iconic RC30, but Yamaha’s answer, the 1989 FZR750R, better known as the OW01, is even rarer and more exotic with only 500 built.

This OW01 (VIN: JYA3JVN07MA002114) has been upstairs in our vault/museum for quite some time, but now it’s off to star in a new collection. It came with the MSO showing that it had originally been distributed to Yamaha Motor Corporation USA.

The odometer shows 8,712 miles.
