Click here for an CycleVIN Motorcycle History Report on this 1991 Yamaha YSR50. Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

The Yamaha YSR50 was the most common of the rare 50cc sportbikes that came from Japan in the late 80s and early 90s. An instant classic, the YSR50 was always street legal and always seems to put a smile on the face of riders and spectators.

Built to look like a mini RZ500, the YSR50 also featured mini performance. The 49.3cc two-stroke engine was capable of pushing the bike up to 38 miles per hour, but companies like Team Calamari have been making stock performance numbers useless with years of aftermarket parts and performance modifications if you are so inclined. With that said, today’s YSR is so original and well-preserved you’ll probably want to keep it stock. Probably.

Manufactured in March of 1991, this example is VIN: JYA2RRA08MA057284, Engine #: 2RR-057284. The seller acquired it twenty three years ago from a private party.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 99.5 miles. The odometer shows 367 miles.

Modifications:
The seller states that there are no modifications – it’s factory stock, down to the original Bridgestone Molas tires.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
There are several very minor scratches on the bodywork this bike presents very well for its age. This is the most severe scratch:

Please see the album up top for all other cosmetic blemishes, here are some examples:

Inside of the tank:

In preparation for the listing, the seller had us clean the carb, install a new battery, and rebuild the petcock. Our technician Daniel did the work and he recommends that if the next owner wants to ride this bike, that they change the oil (we do not know when the last oil change was performed) and install a new chain as the original 30 year-old unit is slightly dry. Otherwise it is in excellent shape, and Daniel joked that because there’s so few miles on the engine, it’s the “first non-modified YSR50 I’ve ridden that feels like it has some power.” The sale includes a new air filter and a new petcock (it’s missing one o-ring that we had to use to rebuild the current petcock as we wanted to keep the bike as original as possible). Please note that the battery included in the bottom photo below was tested and found to be bad so it has been discarded and is not included in the sale.

The sale includes two keys, owner’s manual, service manual, tool kit, and block off plates for the turn signal holes in the tail.

Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Yamaha is offered on a clean California title on Planned Non-Operation registration.
