Description

Additional photos of this 1992 Honda NSR150SP are available here for your perusal.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the small-displacement race replica market in Asia was booming. Legions of bright-eyed young riders lined up to fork over their hard-earned cash for competition-derived road-legal runners like Yamaha’s TZR250, Kawasaki’s KR-1, and Suzuki’s RGV250.

In certain Southeast Asian markets, demand was high for even smaller displacement bikes – accordingly, Honda launched the NSR150 for the Taiwanese market.

Though small in size, the NSR150 was hardly lacking when it came to smile-factor. Its 150cc two-stroke, liquid-cooled engine produced up to 39 horsepower – plenty of grunt given its svelte 260-pound curb weight.

What’s more, the little Honda boasted tons of big-bike tech, including a six-speed transmission, Nikasil coated cylinders, RC valves, and a Pro Arm rear swingarm. When combined with an eye-catching Repsol livery, what you had a pocket-sized MotoGP tribute.

This example is VIN: NS150SP0012444. The seller purchased the bike with a Japanese title at the AMA Vintage Days swap meet in Ohio.

The seller has owned this NSR150 for three years, during which time he has ridden it “a couple hundred miles.” The odometer currently shows 8,247 kilometers (5,124 miles).
