Description

Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

In 1990, Suzuki introduced an all-new GSX-R400 for the Japanese market with the code name GK76A. Fierce competition in the 400cc category amongst the Japanese manufactures was fueled by the restrictive riders licensing rules in Japan that favored smaller displacement bikes and the TT-F3 racing class that spurred continual development of the models from the big four Japanese builders.

The GSX-R 400 was originally launched in Japan in 1984 with the GK71 model, featuring a liquid-cooled inline four cylinder engine with DOHC, four valves per cylinder and close to 60 hp. Lighter than its rivals (under 350 lbs wet), the aluminum framed Suzuki became a hit with its excellent handling, more-than-adequate brakes, and a race-derived heritage. By the time the 1990 GK76 model was launched, the GSX-R 400 had been through several changes and the new double cradle aluminum frame that mimicked the larger 750 and 1100 models almost looked like a step back from the previous model’s (GK73) modern-looking twin spar frame but the GK76A came with huge improvements in new inverted front forks, better brakes, 17″ wheels front and rear, a new 4-1 exhaust, all new styling and an engine producing 59 hp at 14,500 RPM.

The GK76A models also saw SP and SP-II versions released by Suzuki, while the base model continued unchanged until production ended in 1996.

This example is VIN: GK76A103863, Engine #: K709-103858.

The odometer shows 7,663 kilometers (4,743 miles).

It is adorned in the more rare red/black/silver paint scheme, showing very low kilometers, a stock exhaust system, and wonderful potential as an example to be enjoyed as a daily rider. It also has the last year of the more powerful 59hp engine before the 1993 power restrictions came into effect.

Modifications:
Savage tank grip pads.

Braided front brake lines.

Aftermarket bar ends.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
Small flaws in various parts of the silver decals with some light overspray.

Touch up on front upper fairing (red).

Peeling decals around mirror mounts.

Various small marks and scuffs on fairings.

Corrosion on underside of triple clamps, some lighter corrosion on forks and parts of the frame.

Inside of fuel tank:

Our technicians noted a low RPM misfire with a stumble that clears around 5,000 rpm, then the fueling is perfect. The battery, shock, forks, brakes, and chain were all deemed to be OK.

It is rolling on new Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires with date codes of 0321 and 1021.

The sale includes one key.
