Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 1992 Yamaha FZR600 Vance & Hines.

When it was introduced in 1989, the FZR600 was a quantum leap forward that was so good that Yamaha basically left it untouched until 1993. The Japanese company was focused on making a great base for production racing, and they were quickly proven correct – in the model’s first year, 9 out of the top 10 finishers at Daytona were on Yamahas and first place went to none other than John Kocinski.

Although the twin-spar frame was made from steel instead of the FZR400’s aluminum setup, the larger 599cc inline 4-cylinder engine bore a striking resemblance to its smaller counterpart, whilst also putting out a heftier 90 horsepower.

In 1992, Yamaha offered a limited edition replica of their Vance & Hines AMA Supersport bike. The model celebrated the two brands’ partnership in the 600 class:
Exact production numbers are hard to pinpoint, but Yamaha took 637 of their standard FZR600s and adorned them with a striking magenta and yellow hand-painted livery that emulated the race bike.

They also equipped it with a Vance & Hines exhaust, of course!

Manufactured February 1992, this example is VIN: JYA3HHE09NA042385. The seller purchased the bike Spring 2024 from a dealer out of Georgia and states, “My best friend Troy had one back in early 90s. He passed away after being hit by a car in May 1994. I looked for years to find one and finally did last year. I wanted to honor his memory and have one to ride and enjoy. I have really struggled with the decision to sell the bike. If it does not meet my reserve or an offer that comes close, I may keep it.”

It is number 605 of the production run.

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 100 miles. The odometer shows 17,168 miles.

Maintenance:
Per the seller, “Bike was dry stored so my mechanic re-commissioned it. New brake pads, chain, oil and filter change, front master cylinder, brake fluid flush and refresh, coolant flush and refresh. New Dunlop tires. It is a bit cold blooded, sometimes needs full choke to start and others it doesn’t.” In preparation for the listing, the seller had us perform a safety inspection, and clean and lube the drive chain.
