Evolving out of the YZ250 motocrosser the first iterations of the WR (derived from wide-ration transmission) were underwhelming for a cross country enduro.
By 1992 Yamaha had corrected its mistakes and separated the WR from the YZ. The fuel tank was now 3.4 gallon, up from 2.1, the suspension upgraded, and a rear wheel changed from 19-inch to 18-inch meant a smoother ride.
This example is VIN: JYA4DCW07NA001786. The seller purchased the bike in Menifee, California from a private party in 2014.
There is no odometer and true mileage unknown.
Maintenance:
The seller states, “This was a meticulous rebuild. Every piece was cleaned, restored, or replaced. Every threaded hole was cleaned and chased with a tap. I spent 9 months of my spare time restoring this bike. Parts are not readily available and a few were difficult to come by. I was originally going to race it in a GP series but, it turned out so nice, I don’t even want to get it dirty much less go hammer it on a track!”
