In 1988, Kawasaki debuted a 750cc racebike called the ZXR-7. The following year, they released a production version – overseas, it was called the ZXR750. Here in the states, we knew it in the US as the Ninja ZX-7.
Kawasaki updated their standard ZX-7 (ZXR750) sportbike in 1993 with ram-air induction and the upgraded pistons and cams from the previous year’s “R” special. That gave the 1993 “R” a better platform to improve upon, adding trick components like an adjustable swingarm pivot.
Other notable upgrades that riders got to enjoy with the “R” included: Aluminum gas tank, solo tail, compression and rebound adjustability in the 41mm front forks, remote reservoir shock, 39mm Keihin FCR flat slide carbs with a supplemental hole in the right side fairing for adjustment, and a close-ratio transmission.
This example is VIN: ZX750M000540. The seller purchased the bike a year ago from a collector and states, “It is all original, never restored, just some small spots at the swing arm are re-painted. It is nice for the show-room but can also be used as it runs perfectly. A rare M1 model.”
The odometer shows 27,657 kilometers (17,185 miles).
Maintenance:
Per the seller, “Cleaned the carbs, adjusted them. New battery.”
Modifications:
The seller notes, “100% original (the signals at the rear have the shorter extensions – time period correct mod)”

It is riding on Metzeler Sportec M7 RR tires with date codes of 1019 and 4020.
