2026-11-14 09:50:00 2026-11-14 10:00:00 America/Los_Angeles 1993 Yamaha GTS1000 New Port Richey, Florida - Proclaimed as one of the “Coolest Sportbikes of the ’90s" by Cycle World, the GTS1000 was far ahead of its time, pairing hub-center steering with fuel injection and ABS to create one of motorcycling’s most innovative sport-tourers. https://iconicmotorbikeauctions.com/auction/1993-yamaha-gts1000-5/ Iconic Motorbike Auctions concierge@iconicmotorbikes.com

In 1993 and 1994, Yamaha sold a sport-touring bike that was far ahead of its time–the GTS1000. Full of technology that wouldn’t make its way to most bikes for years to come, the GTS featured fuel injection, ABS brakes, and most importantly, the RADD (Rationally Advanced Design Development) front suspension designed by James Parker—also the force behind the Mission R electric superbike. This suspension was able to isolate braking from damping, leading to increased performance in both aspects as well as better overall stability.

The GTS1000’s mill was yanked from the FZR1000. Though detuned, the Genesis engine still offered triple-digit power figures, with the liquid-cooled, 1,002cc, DOHC inline-four cranking out 102 horsepower and 78ft-lbs of torque at 9,000rpm and 6,500rpm, respectively.

The GTS gives you all the fun of a rare, quirky bike, but without the support-related drawbacks. You can use it everyday, and that’s one of the reasons why Bike Magazine called it the “coolest of rare motorcycles” ever made: “Scarce, stylish, yet capable and completely usable: that’s cool in our book.” It’s also why Forbes said that Yamaha should revive it as an electric motorcycle.

In addition to being one of the new models featured on the cover of the December 1992 issue of Cycle World, the GTS1000 was also praised in a late 2022 article where the publication proclaimed it as one of the “Coolest Sportbikes of the ’90s.”
