Here in the States, Yamaha’s RD350 was produced for a very brief span from 1973-1975 as an air-cooled two-stroke twin. Even despite the model’s overwhelming popularity, it eventually grew into the longer stroke RD400. Elsewhere around the world, however, the 350 lived on in various other guises.

The LC, for instance, was sold in Europe and South America as a direct replacement. Along with liquid cooling, it also boasted modified porting and exhaust tuning. Together, such changes transformed the bike’s performance — so much so that Yamaha marketed it as a road-going TZ race bike.

Eventually, the LC was phased out in favor of Yamaha’s revolutionary RD350 YPVS (the RZ350 for the American market). With the addition of the Yamaha Power Valve System, the bike incorporated a computer-controlled valve that could adjust exhaust port timing. This enabled increased torque at low RPMs while maintaining horsepower higher up in the rev band. Though the model eventually evolved to the RD350 F2, production continued in Brazil up until 1992, with many exports making their way to Europe.

This example is VIN: 9C62UA008N0007068. The seller acquired the bike from the original owner in 2016.

The odometer shows 193 kilometers (119 miles), which represents the distance covered since the restoration was performed. However, true mileage is unknown.
