The Honda Cub EZ90 was a quirky flashback to the days of “you meet the nicest people on a Honda.” Designed to make motorcycles more friendly, the Honda EZ90 hid all of its mechanicals inside the futuristic plastic bodywork, and it even offered an electric start in addition to the kicker. Sold between ’91 and ’96 for off-road use only, lots of Cubs were used as pit bikes (even by Honda’s ChampCar and IRL teams!) as well as runabouts strapped on the back of RVs and campers.
Powered by an oil injected, 2-stroke 90cc engine, this scoot was faster than you’d expect. No clutch is required for the ‘automatic’ transmission. The swingarm functioned as the rear shock, and there was a little storage cubby in the front of the bike (where you see the Cub logo).
This example is VIN: JH2HE0602RK500729. According to the seller, “I acquired this gem from the original owner who purchased it new from my work, Rocky Mountain Cycle Plaza, back in 1994. When he was ready to dig it out of storage and sell it, he gave us a call and we acquired it back. I purchased it 11/22/2022.”
There is no odometer. Per the seller, “The original owner’s family has two boys who raced motocross so the Cub got ridden around the pits and to the mailbox by dad. I’ve put maybe 10 miles on it in the year I’ve had it; a few laps around the neighborhood and one time out of the neighborhood to open it up.”
Maintenance:
Per the seller, “The “Cub” has been fully tuned and prepped by a Red Level Certified Honda mechanic (highest level) at Rocky Mountain Cycle Plaza here in Colorado Springs. It got a new battery, oil change, air filter clean, fresh gas and tune up. It’s needs nothing and is ready to ride or store.”
