Description

In 1994, Honda introduced the RVF400, or NC35. Successor to the VFR400 (not confusing at all), the NC35 was two things: a mini-me of the legendary RC45 and one of the greatest 400s ever built. Just like its 750cc big brother, the NC35’s fit and finish was top-notch, and the model had all the trappings of a full-size superbike in a potent 400cc package.

Think about what a 400cc sportbike means nowadays – then look at what this offered over 20 years ago with the single-sided swingarm, V4 motor, endurance racer-inspired air ducts, and gear-driven cams! The NC35 made it clear that small displacement bikes didn’t have to be cheap. In addition to all the nice details above, the liquid-cooled, DOHC, 90-degree, 399cc V4 with four-valves per cylinder, gear-driven cams, and quad 28mm carbs made just shy of 60hp at 13,000rpm. A 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 400 (still a very fun bike!) makes 45.

Never officially sold outside of the Japanese market, the RVF400 featured a V4 engine in an aluminum twin-spar frame paired with upside-down 41mm Showa forks and a monoshock out back. Dual front discs with Nissin calipers help to slow the 400 from its roughly 125 mph top speed.

This example is VIN: NC351002748. The seller states “I bought the bike two years ago from a Subaru dealer in PA.”

The odometer shows 12,847 KM which is 7,982 miles. The seller has covered approximately 26 miles in two years of ownership and states “The first new bike I ever bought was a 1994 RVF400 when I lived in Japan. It’s my favorite bike ever so I had to get another when I could here in the US. I ended up getting two. This one is too nice to ride and all original so I’m keeping the rougher one with the aftermarket body kit on it and selling the good one.”

Maintenance:
The seller states “I’ve gone through the bike extensively. Forks were rebuilt by GMD computrack in Atlanta. Brakes front and back have been fully disassembled, new OEM Honda seals kits for all calipers and master cylinders with new OEM Honda brake fluid. Coolant flushed and filled with fresh OEM Honda coolant. New OEM Honda air and oil filters with Honda hp4 oil. New ngk plugs, valves checked and a few shimmed to spec., new aftermarket reg/rec and stator, new battery. New Pirelli tires., new chain on used sprockets. Steering head, swingarm and eccentric bearings cleaned and regressed. Carbs split with new LiteTek ethanol resistant o rings installed, carbs balanced.”

Modifications:
The seller states “None, bike is fully stock.”

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires with date codes of 3522 and 3922.

The sale includes two keys and original owner’s manual.
