Description
Additional photos of this Ducati 900 Superlight are available here for your perusal.
Upon its debut in 1991, the 900SS proved a resounding success due to the exotic Italian styling and punchy performance. As is typical of Ducati, however, the best means to market the bike was to produce a limited edition numbered variant. Accordingly, the Bologna-based firm released the 900 Superlight (SL) just a year later.
Originally, Ducati only planned to released 500 examples in the first year of production but that number grew. The 1995 model (which was not officially sold in the United States) was also known as the Superlight MKIV, Ducati ended up making 850 of them:
Europe: 348 yellow, 220 red
Australia: 12 yellow
Germany: 270 red
Changes for the MKIV included the addition of an oil temperature gauge, a revised windshield design, and different logos on the bodywork.
This example is VIN: ZDM906SC2019449.
