The 916 truly needs no introduction, but we’ll defer to VisorDown for our favorite summation:
“Every once in a while a true classic comes along: James Joyce’s Ulysses, The Beatles’ Revolver, Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs. Greats one-and-all, to be seen, owned or understood by the discerning and devoted. To the list of timeless classics, we can add Massimo Tamburini’s Ducati 916.”
“Never had a motorcycle provoked such feelings of pure lust or been so coveted. Here was sex made metal, a Sophia Loren in cro-mo steel and alloy. Slim and curvy, the 916 took the breath away from any angle and redefined how a motorcycle could, and should, look.”
This 916 (VIN: ZDM1SB8S1SB004750) has 2,808 miles and it is currently located at our Santa Monica location – please contact us to make an appointment if you’d like to view it up close.
Upgrades include a Fast by Ferracci exhaust (with a Ferracci Stage 1 EPROM chip, installed in 1996)
Yoyodyne clutch slave cylinder:
Ohlins shock and a Ferracci carbon fiber rear hugger/chain guard:
The sale includes the owner’s manual, shop manual in a binder, world dealer guide, limited warranty paperwork, and a bike cover.
You’ll also get some magazines and some of the best documentation we’ve seen with a 916 yet – we’ve got notes from the first sale and just about every maintenance note and receipt afterwards.
It is in impressive cosmetic condition – the only flaw we note is some wear on the front of the top triple.
This Ducati was last titled and registered in Wisconsin in 2010. The gas was drained 6 months ago and the bike was kept on a battery tender as the owner planned on displaying it in his house. Our White Glove service would easily be able to get this 916 running again so you can enjoy it on the road or on display!
