Sport Rider magazine (RIP) debuted the same year as the instant-classic Honda CBR900RR: 1993. In its first issue, SR summed up the RR by saying, “No production motorcycle, with the possible exception of the ZX-11, can provide the quality and quantity of giggles this little Honda can.” Some of that fun came through handling that some riders considered twitchy, so Honda changed things up a bit in 1995.

Specifically, Honda upgraded the suspension and updated the bodywork. Back to Sport Rider – in their 1995 review they said that “All (our testers) felt the changes made a significant improvement and agreed that they could ride more quickly with the same margin for safety on the new machine.

Manufactured in June 1994, this example is VIN: JH2SC2803SM301560.

The seller acquired it a private party 7 months ago, and he’s covered 537 miles on it since. The odometer shows 17,000 miles.

Per the seller, “I believe this bike to be in stock form with the exception of the turn signals/tail tidy and Two Brothers exhaust.”

Cosmetically, the seller notes that “there are some scratches on the left side fairing, case, and handlebar end from the previous owner dropping it. The clutch lever is bent as well and there are a couple of body work screws missing..”

He also notes a small crack in the tail section.

Mechanically, “this bike runs very well, it works and rides like it should. When I bought the bike it had been parked in the owner’s garage for nine years. I bought it without starting it, took it to a shop and had all fluids flushed as well as a new fuel pump, thermostat, batter, and Metzeler tires installed.” He also had the carbs rebuilt and a new petcock installed.

I have always owned dual sport bikes. I bought the CBR because it was the bike I drooled over at the dealership when I was in my early twenties. While I love the bike, and enjoy tinkering with it, I would rather go ride than mess with a carbureted bike.”
