The Suzuki GSX-R set the standard for what a lightweight, powerful, race bred street bike could be when it launched over 35 years ago. Decades later, over a million of them have been built and in 2021 you can still buy a new GSX-R750, a testament to the model’s enduring popularity. You can find them everywhere: on the race track, used as a weekend rider for twisty back roads, daily commuters, and increasingly they are being sought after for collections.
This 1995 GSX-R750W represents the end of the line for the classic double cradle frame GSX-R models that brought so much sales success for Suzuki. Instantly recognizable, they are what one thinks of when you conjure up the image of a 1990’s sportbike with flashy paint, colored wheels, and bodywork that mimicked the GP race bikes of the day. Part of the reason for the Suzuki’s excellent sales numbers were the looks – performance was there as well – but the bike just looked fast, bold, and aggressive. Today these cradle frame GSX-R’s are becoming more sought after by those looking to restore, ride, and collect them.
The 1995 GSX-R750 was now in its fifth year of water cooling, the engine was putting out a solid 112 HP as its 16 valve DOHC inline 4 engine had seen a number of internal upgrades in 1994. Handling was sharp with 43mm inverted front forks and a modern, box type aluminum swingarm. The brakes were very good with six piston Tokico calipers biting down on 310mm rotors to slow everything down. The styling saw some changes in a new top fairing and different headlight. Weight was up due to added reinforcements in the frame but kept in check by use of magnesium on some engine parts. 1996 would mark a new direction for the GSX-R with a completely new bike, leaving this 1995 as the last in the line of the bikes that broke the mold.
Manufactured in July of 1994, this example is VIN: JS1GR7BA3S2100484.
The odometer shows 27,894 miles.
The seller of this 1995 GSX-R750 has owned the bike for just about one year, having purchased it from a friend who had owned it since 1997. The seller mentions that the bike had been mostly been sitting stored and unused for many years before he bought it, he is selling now to make room for other bikes and projects. The seller has recently performed a lot of maintenance work on the bike to get it road worthy and has put about 500 miles on it since then.
Recent Maintenance:
From the owner: “A long list of recent maintenance has been performed including new battery, starter solenoid, coils, spark plugs, front fork springs, oil and filter, coolant, front and rear sprocket, chain, rebuilt petcock, rebuilt carburetor, replaced push & pull throttle cables, front brake caliper pistons and brake fluid flush front & rear, tires replaced. All documentation for parts and service is available.” The carbs were sorted by Razee Motorcycle Center in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
Modifications:
The owner describes the bike as being very original, with just a period correct Yoshimura exhaust as the only modification. The stock exhaust is included in the sale.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
The left side of the upper cowl has a crack and some scratches.
There is some yellowing in the “SUZUKI” decals on the tank.
The left lower fairing has some scratches and flaws in the decals and paint.
The passenger seat has a small flaw, the original blue colored passenger seat is included in the sale.
Mechanical Issues:
Per the seller, “the engine start button occasionally sticks and should be replaced. The headlight just stopped working and will need to be looked at.”
The sale of the bike includes the stock exhaust, a spare upper cowl, the original pillion seat, and some other miscellaneous items.
