Ducati’s 900SS defined the 1990s era of Italian motorcycling. A perfect mix of performance, simplicity, and unmistakable style. Offered in both full fairing (SS/SP) and half-fairing (SS/CR) versions, it paired Ducati’s iconic trellis frame with an air cooled 904cc Desmodromic L-Twin, fed by Mikuni carbs and producing just under 80 horsepower. With a dry weight of 414 pounds and that signature dry clutch rattle, the 900SS delivered a visceral, analog riding experience that few modern machines can match.

Cycle World’s Peter Egan famously called the 900SS “the used motorcycle you need”, praising its rare balance of comfort and capability. He noted that it could be “perfectly comfortable long-distance touring”, yet on winding roads it “metamorphosed back into a sportbike of deep finesse, with killer, real-world midrange and light, intuitive handling.” That duality helped make the Supersport one of Ducati’s most beloved and versatile models, as enjoyable on a weekend ride as it was on a long trip.

Nearly 28,000 examples were sold during its seven year run, but the 900SS remains a standout in Ducati’s history. The last of the truly analog, air cooled Supersports before the digital era began. Elegant, engaging, and endlessly charismatic, it captures everything enthusiasts love about Ducati in one timeless package.

This example is VIN: ZDM1LC4M8TB021881. The seller acquired it in 2021 from “an acquaintance I met at the Huntington Beach vintage motorcycle monthly get-together.”

During his ownership, the seller covered 3,300 miles. The odometer shows 23,315 miles.

“I had only owned an older 748, liquid cooled Ducati and wanted to try an air cooled bike. I very much enjoyed it, but I don’t ride it enough and have 6 motorcycles in a one car garage!”
