Description
Additional photos of this Honda NSR250R SE are available here for your perusal.
In 1991, Honda split the base and SP models of the NSR250R with the introduction of the SE (Super Edition) model. They had all of the SP goodies (dry clutch, adjustable suspension, special livery) except for the magnesium wheels.
In 1994, the Japanese firm updated the NSR with an all new model dubbed the MC28. The result was arguably the ultimate 250cc street bike in Japan thanks in no small part to the PGM-IV ignition and Pro-Arm single sided swingarm. Also notable was the memory card used to start the bike.
The only changes for 1996 were in the colorway, but it was the beginning of the end for the legendary machine as the R model was discontinued.
Manufactured in June of 1997, this example is VIN: MC281005132. The seller acquired this bike in early 2022, however he is moving and will not have a garage in his new home.
The odometer shows 44,970 kilometers (27,943 miles). The seller covered roughly 700 plus miles mostly weekend rides to Alice’s/Santa Cruz mountains in the Bay Area. “It’s guaranteed to be 100% dialed-in, mechanically sound with zero issues. Every other weekend I put 50-100 miles on it, minimum.”
“It’s one of the best sorted NSRs I’ve ever seen. It comes with the factory service manual, record of everything done to it, every issue, and every old part ever replaced, maintenance records. The bike is 100% turn key. The bike had everything that required for preventative maintenance, anything found that needed replacement or might in the near future all recorded..”
Previous Maintenance:
“The motor has never seized, but after noticing difficult cold starts and doing a leak down test, a leaky center seal was diagnosed (common issue due to the gasket drying up). The top and bottom end of the engine was proactively rebuilt at 42,000 km in 2017 with brand new OEM Honda crank, cylinders, seals, rings, etc – everything was recorded and all old parts will be included in the sale. Even genuine HRC spec Three Bond 1207B sealant for the cases was used. After the rebuild, a leak down test showed 8 PSI for 10 minutes on each side to confirm perfect pressure and no leakage between the cylinders. An almost impossible-to-find brand new OEM Honda water pump gear was also found and used.”
Modifications:
Aftermarket exhaust (OEM exhaust is included).
It is currently set up for premix, the original oil pump setup is included.
“I can throw in a trick stunning bike stand specifically made for the MC28 and a NSR-specific Tyga soft cover.”
The sale includes one key card, a HRC key card, and HRC jets.
“The only thing I see it might require depending on the new owner’s preference is the tires. Although it’s all good to run as is.” It is riding on Bridgestone tires from 2015.
Currently located in San Jose, California, this Honda is offered on a clean California title with registration current through August 2022. Have any NSR250 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
