Introduced in 1990, the RC36 generation of the VFR was considered by many to be one of the greatest all-around motorcycles of its time. In fact, the RC36 was sold between 1990 and 1997, and it won a “Ten Best” award from Cycle World every single year. From CW’s 1990 story: “The VFR isn’t the fastest in its displacement category, and it won’t set the quickest lap times around the nearest racecourse. What it will do, with its balance, poise and deftness, is give its rider the best all-around motorcycle in the business.”

Fast forward a couple of decades – thanks to companies like Tyga, the RC36 chassis has also become a potential platform for people to create tributes to the legendary RC30. This example was built by the seller, who states: “I wanted to build an RC30 replica so I searched for a great donor bike for several months. I ended up buying a great donor bike from a local rider who was moving overseas and lived in a neighborhood close to mine here in Maryland. I’m building another bike and need the space. With the Tyga body kit, subframe, and exhaust, this replica is approximately 70 lbs lighter than the stock VFR750 it was based on. With all fluids except fuel, the bike was weighed using two bathroom scales and combining their weights for a total of 398 lbs.”

“Unlike a pure custom build, this bike was built with using the Tyga kit and Mostly OEM honda parts. Should the new owner ever have a mishap, new individual parts can be bought from Tyga painted to match, just like a factory bike.”
Manufactured in December of 1995, this example is VIN: JH2RC360XTM601072. The seller acquired it a year and a half ago from a local private party.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 184 miles. “That includes some shakedown runs for tuning & testing and a good ride or two.” The gauge cluster was swapped as part of the build, the seller states that total mileage is 40,007.

The sale includes the original dash.

Maintenance:
“This replica started life as a reasonably well taken care of 1996 VFR750F, RC36/2. In preparation for the build, the donor bike underwent an extensive servicing. The bike was disassembled down to just the motor in the frame for a full cleaning, inspection and servicing. The bike was then fully serviced with primarily OEM Honda parts with just a few exceptions. Mechanically, the bike functions in as-new condition. Starting at the front, here is a list of the services performed within the last year:
• New All Balls wheel bearings

Modifications:
“Bodywork: Tyga’s RC30 Replica kit has been meticulously installed.
Apart from what’s included in Tyga’s kit, every attempt has been made to assemble as accurate a replica as practically possible. It’s the details that make this replica difficult to distinguish from an original and many OEM Honda RC30 parts were used in the build. The vast majority of the visible fasteners used on the build are original RC30 parts:
• Windshield rivets
• All bodywork screws
• D-ring Dzus fasteners
• Fuel tank fasteners
• Etc
Other Genuine RC30 parts include
• Correct Rear 18×5.5 rear wheel
• Switch gear
• Gas cap and ignition switch with matching keys – (rear seat storage compartment has separate non-matching keys)
• Front Brake Master Cylinder (perfectly matched to CBR600F4I calipers)
• Front Clutch Master Cylinder (aftermarket plastic oil reservoir)
• Rear brake caliper and master cylinder (on Tyga caliper hanger)
• Foot pegs and shifter rod (Foot peg brackets and rear brake pedal are CBR900rr, with custom heal guards made from exact dimension RC30 heal guard template, and NSR250 MC18 Shifter pedal)
• RC30 JDM headlights
• The extremely difficult to find and expensive RC30 JDM mirrors (to match the smaller JDM headlights found on the first year 1988 JDM RC30s)

RC30 Replica parts
• Gauges – CBR900RR SC23 gauges
• Tyga exhaust is a faithful copy of the HRC factory racing exhaust. It has a removable sound deadening baffle installed and carburates correctly with the stock VFR jetting.
• Taillight – Tyga replica of RC30 light
• Clipons – Battle Factory brand from Webike Japan
• Both wheels are freshly powdercoated
• Front Brake Discs are 310mm RC30 replicas made by a boutique RC30 supplier in Spain

Suspension
• The front suspension is comprised of Honda CB1000 Big One Drop Axle RC30 type lower sliders with CBR600F4I fork tubes and internals.
• Triple trees are modified CB1000 Big One that have been machined to suite the VFR frame.
• Full race tech tuned fork with RaceTech emulators for both compression and rebound along with RaceTech springs
• Rear shock is from a CBR929, that’s been professionally tuned and adapted to the VFR by DMR performance Supsension, it’s been lengthened, with a new spring and modified valving.
• The single nut rear axle and Cush Drive are from a Honda Bros that has been adapted to fit the stock VFR rear brake disc. It has a custom made 530 rear sprocket made by Rebel Gears to match the stock VFR size chain and front sprocket.”

It is riding on Dunlop Roadsmart IV tires with date codes of 1322 and 4222.

The sale includes 3 ignition keys.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album in the “Photos” tab for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“Bodywork is new and flawless. Front forks have some light patina consistent with age. Footpegs and shifter show signs of having touched the ground before being installed on the replica. There is a small scratch on the cush drive. There is some discoloration on the fuel cap.”

Currently located in Arnold, Maryland, this Honda is offered on a clean Maryland title.
