Additional photos of this Suzuki RGV250SP are available here for your perusal.

Introduced at the end of the 80s, the RGV250 was filled with design cues from Suzuki’s 250cc Gamma Grand Prix racer. When de-restricted, it produced over 60 horsepower to motivate just 282 pounds of dry weight. Visor Down called it “the purest and most race-bred two-stroke track tool ever to make it into a showroom.”

For the 1997 model year, Suzuki debuted the VJ23 generation with an all new engine that featured a 70 degree configuration of the V-twin, just like the factory race bikes. According to Suzuki UK, just 2,218 were built. All of the VJ23s were the high-spec SP model (an upgrade in the previous generation), which got a dry clutch, close-ratio transmission, ram air intake, and larger carbs. Claimed hp for a de-restricted model was 70.

Even better than all of that, some SPs were available in a Lucky Strike replica race livery. Please note that this one is a Lucky Strike replica.

This example is VIN: VJ23A101480. The seller acquired it on eBay in 2015.

The VIN plate is not original.

The speedometer/odometer is a replacement unit for full power bikes (240 kph). It shows 803 kilometers. The original 180 kph gauges are included in the sale and show approximately 7,700 kilometers on them for a total of roughly 8,503 kilometers (5,278 miles).

Modifications:
The bike was de-restricted roughly 1,000 miles ago by the owner at the time, who was a 2-stroke tuner and technician in California. At that time, the pistons, rings, seals, and bearings were also replaced.

Lucky Strike paint on OEM panels.

Jolly Moto exhaust.

WR’S rear sets with aftermarket heel guards.

KYB front forks with Tokico radially-mounted calipers, carbon fiber front fender.

Brembo radial front master cylinder and brake lever from a Ducati Panigale.

Red chain, aftermarket rear sprocket, swingarm spools.

Not pictured are:
– 32900-42ERO Race SAPC CDI for high octane/avgas. The bike is currently set up for premix as the race CDI cannot control an oil pump.
– Full power air box lid and air filter.
– NGK BR93CMIX iridium plugs.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller states that this Suzuki is in “cosmetically sound condition” with no significant blemishes.

The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues. He installed new Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 tires in 2015 and has also replaced the fluids and filters.

The sale includes the owner’s manual and the original exhaust. It does NOT include the stand shown in some pictures.

Currently located in Greenwich, Connecticut, this Suzuki is offered on a clean California title with back fees totaling $889. The seller is available to have a bidders proxy see the bike up close. Have any RGV250 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
