Brought to market as a return of the Triumph name, the Thunderbird Sport was the first in a long line of newly-minted motorcycle’s that redefined what the British manufacturer would be known for moving into the 21st Century. Having sold the name and rights to making motorcycles, Triumph was purchased by a newly-formed motorcycle company in the late 1980’s, with the intention of using the Triumph name for newer models.
Introduced as a sportier variant of the classic Thunderbird cruiser, this model showcased a blend of retro aesthetics and modern performance. Powered by a 885cc liquid-cooled, inline-three engine, it delivered a healthy dose of power and torque, putting out roughly 82 horsepower with 68 lb-ft of torque. Its distinct styling, characterized by a twin headlight setup and dual exhausts, exuded a timeless appeal. The Thunderbird Sport marked Triumph’s commitment to expanding its lineup with a more performance-oriented cruiser, catering to riders seeking a combination of classic aesthetics and engaging riding dynamics.
