The 1999 Ducati 996 (Biposto) is a legendary sportbike featuring a 996cc liquid-cooled 90° V-twin Desmoquattro engine, producing 112 hp at 8,500 rpm and 93 Nm (68.6 lb-ft) of torque at 8,000 rpm. It utilized a steel trellis frame, Brembo brakes, and featured iconic, refined 916-style styling with improved, larger airboxes.

Replacing the legendary 916, the 996 was Ducati’s flagship superbike from 1999-2002. The gorgeous Tamburini-designed aesthetics remained, but upgrades like larger pistons and valves, a stronger crankshaft, lighter wheels, and better brakes all combined for an improved riding experience.

The 1999 model was praised for its superior handling and engine performance compared to its 916 predecessor, utilizing twin fuel injectors and a revised airbox for improved power delivery.
