Replacing the legendary 916, the 996 was Ducati’s flagship superbike from 1999-2002. The gorgeous Tamburini-designed aesthetics remained, but upgrades like like larger pistons and valves, a stronger crankshaft, lighter wheels, and better brakes all combined for an improved riding experience.

This is the second time we’ve seen this bike recently, as the seller of this example (VIN: ZDM1SB5T2XB001344) acquired it from Iconic two years ago. He is only letting it go now as the riding position is too hard on his back.

The odometer shows 13,069 miles.

It was serviced approximately 300 miles ago with a new fuel pump, pressure regulator, all in-tank fuel hoses, aluminum radiator, timing belts, front and rear sprockets, and chain. In addition, the clutch and brake hydraulic systems were flushed.

A flaw in the tank prompted the seller to have the tank repainted. He was so happy with the end result that he asked the painter to redo the entire bike.

The bike was repainted with a ceramic clear coat, however the painter moved to another shop before he could color sand and polish. But it still looks good.” Our White Glove service can have the color sand and polish done if the new owner desires it, or they can simply enjoy it as is.

There are several upgrades, including a Power Commander and Fast by Ferracci exhaust.

The only cosmetic issue we note is a scratch on left mirror.

The seller sums up his bike by saying, “if you ever wanted a Tamburini-designed bike that you wouldn’t feel guilty riding, this is the one.” Have any questions? Let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to get them answered for you!
